Check out this very surreal and calming video. All of the graphics were generated using a 3D Mandelbulb Raytracer written as a Pixel Bender filter by Tom over at subblue. It works in After Effects but can run fairly slow since all of the calculations are done on the CPU. Apple users can view the 3D fractals in real time using Quartz Composer which uses the GPU for the calculations. To install in After Effects just copy the .pbk files into a Pixel Bender folder in the plugins directory. To install in Photoshop, you will need to download and install the Pixel Bender (x86 | x64) plugin in the Adobe Extension Manager. Once installed, just copy the .pbk files into the folder \Adobe Photoshop CS4\Pixel Bender Files\. You can run the filter(s) in Photoshop by choosing Filter > Pixel Bender > Pixel Bender Gallery. Download the 3D Mandelbulb Ray Tracer.

“The entire film is created from two sequences of continuously morphing Mandelbulb fractals. The rendering was made using a plugin I am developing for After Effects.”

What is iPodFood you ask?
(The following excerpt is from iPodFood.com)

” iPodFood.com is another home for good music downloads. Food you can enjoy. iPodFood.com is chock-full-o goodies that are promo items used to promote bands/artists/dj’s/producers/whoever. We are a conglomerate of music fans from all over the world and hope to turn you on to some goodness that we dig.”

iPodFood.com is run by Dallas’ own DJ Merritt; the host of Edge Club, the longest running mix show in America for the last 15 years. He’s a good friend and all around great guy. Show him some love.

This guy has crazy skills. All CG, Music and Post Production done by Alex Roman. Much respect.

“A FULL-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces. Sometimes in an abstract way. Sometimes surreal.” – Alex Roman
